The 2024 Nero's Pharmaceuticals Anambra State Federation Cup started well with six goals scored in the Day 1 of the prestigious competition
Bishop Owen Nwokolo Football Academy, BONFA, were in imperious form as they made their Debut in the Federations Cup with an emphatic 3-1 annihilation of Young Africans FA as the 2024 Neros/Anambra FA Cup got underway Friday in Nanka, Anambra State.
Sir Victor Nwangwu, a former Rangers player and ex Anambra State FA Secretary, is the team coordinator of BONFA .
With just 10 teams participating in the 2024 Neros/Anambra FA Cup, BONFA have thus sealed their place in the quarter finals and would meet Cup holders, Ozalla Football Academy in the last eight (8) pairings.
A delighted Sir Victor Nwangwu could not hide his joy after the final whistle, heaping huge praises on the sponsor of the team and Bishop on the Niger, Bishop Owen Nwokolo, for his moral, spiritual, material and financial support to the team.
"We're delighted with the performance of the players and, of course, the outcome of the match today", starts Sir Vic, as he's fondly called.
"Don't forget that this is our first competitive FA Cup match as a team. These are all secondary school players and just a few of them who had just finished their secondary school.
"We're grateful to His Lord Bishop, Bishop Owen Nwokolo, who has strongly stood behind us in everything.
"He has always provided us with everything we needed and requested and ensures we lacked absolutely nothing as a way of encouraging and motivating the team. We can't thank him enough".
Nwangwu would go on to highlight the positives from the win going into the next round of the competition.
"In terms of experience, we are short of that as a team. But having won our first game of the competition, the players confidence will certainly come up going into the next game. That's the importance of winning your first game of a competition".
In the second match of the opening day of the 2024 Neros/Anambra FA Cup, Remmy Uche fc defeated Africa OH FC 2-0 to set up a quarter final match against a resilient Peace FC of Awka
Remmy Uche fc missed a lot of Chances in the game but scored twice later in the game to seal the victory.
The Proprietor of Africa OH Fc Oba Mr Sydney Ubanna expressed his Love for the game by promising to move on irrespective of the loss
Football is a game, it's either you lose or Win, we will move on and prepare for other competitions,

He also said that he is aspiring to play in the Nationwide league one soonest.
Games will resume on Tuesday at the Rojenny Stadium Oba , as Hopeland FA will take on NNL side Edel Fc of Anambra.
