NEWS - Nigerian man arrested for stabbing landlord to death in Ghana


A 27-year-old Nigerian identified as John Collins Alabi has been arrested by the Kotobabi Police in Ghana for allegedly stabbing his landlord, Paul Goka, to death on January 2nd for trying to stop him from using their bathhouse in a compound occupied by over 10 tenants at Alajo, a surburb in Ghana.

According to a report by Daily Guide Ghana, on the day of the incident, a disagreement which degenerated into a fight started between the two men after the deceased confronted the suspect for openly having his bath in a demolished bathroom after all tenants were warned to use the public shower. John stabbed the deceased in the stomach and he was immediately rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Speaking on the incident, a Ghanaian police chief, ACP Nuhu Jango of the Nima Divisional Police Commander, said John who was finally arrested around Nima Roundabout on January 5, 2016, had on the day of the incident rushed to their station to make a report that his deceased landlord had inflicted knife wounds on his right fourth finger. He was subsequently given a medical form to go to the hospital for treatment. Around 9:30pm same day, one Vincent Dzramado also stormed the station to report that John Collins Alabi had stabbed his brother, Paul Goka, in the stomach with a knife. Vincent told the police that his brother was rushed to the Maamobi Polyclinic for medical attention and was referred to the 37 Military Hospital for proper medical attention but died on arrival.

When police visited the house of John Collins, he was not in the house. Around 10am on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, police arrested John Collins around the Nima Roundabout.

John has since confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court.
