NEWS - EPL Release Fixtures For The 2015/2016 Season (SEE OPENING DAY FIXTURES)

The Premier League has announced fixtures for the new season, which kicks off August 8, 2015.

On the first day, champions Chelsea will welcome Swansea to Stamford Bridge, as they embark on a defence of their title.

Arsenal welcome West Ham to the Emirates, while their rivals Tottenham Hotspur face a tough fixture away to Manchester United.

Liverpool will begin the new campaign the same way they ended the last a game against Stoke City.

Former champions, Manchester City will travel to West Brom and newcomers Bournemouth will host FA Cup finalists, Aston Villa.

NEWS ALERT - Police shoot dead white tiger that killed a man in Georgia after flood water freed zoo animals

Early Sunday morning, massive flood in Tbilisi ,Georgia, destroyed homes and cut electricity and power supply to residents. The flood also destroyed a local zoo, killing some animals and freeing others. One of the animals freed was a tiger and it has been killed by police after it killed a man.

The man, 43 year old Otar Tsukhishvili, was mauled to death when he entered a warehouse where the tiger was hiding after escaping from the zoo. The man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and his throat slit. Doctors were unable to save him.That's the tiger above.

A hyena is said to still be on the loose, causing serious panic amongst residents in Tbilisi.

But what brought me there I think mainly is because I love this country. I was in the war front for 30 months during the civil war. I lost a lot of loyal people to me, I lost relatives. God has given us another opportunity to reorganise this country. Those who work hard, the society will pay them back. Two fundamental reasons I joined politics, I will tell you. One, when I went back home after being a governor of now six states – Yobe, Borno, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe, petroleum minister under former Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd) for three-and-half years, Head of State and chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, the most irritating thing was that of all these positions I had held, people didn’t remember any. They only remember my days at the PTF because I bought bed sheets and put in hospitals and some x-ray machines and some buses for the schools. They remember me more as chairman of the PTF than as former Head of State, governor or minister of petroleum, in spite of the fact that it was during my time that I signed the contract for the Warri and Kaduna refineries, laid more than 3,500km pipes and built more than 20 depots. We got the tankers off the roads; we saved lives; we saved fuel; we saved the road itself. But from 1999 till date, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has messed it up. That is why Nigerians decided to vote me. The second thing that happened that finally convinced me to join partisan politics was what happened to the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was an empire in the 20th century that collapsed without a shot being fired. Everybody went home; there was confusion. Now, there are 18 countries out of the old Soviet Union. They were more advanced than the Western countries in science because they wanted to go to space specifically in 1957, and they had more nuclear war heads and delivery system. And they had organised their societies; they had much less crimes as they got jobs for people. When people had no jobs they got some for them. That was when I decided, and I believe that the best form of governance is multi-party democracy with a big caveat – election must be free and fair. And that was why I was in trouble. I moved from the All Peoples Party, APP, to the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and eventually, the All Progressives Congress, APC. I contested in 2003, spent 30 months in courts and ended up in the Supreme Court. I contested in 2007, spent about 20 months in courts and ended up in the Supreme Court. I contested in 2011 and spent about eight months in courts – all ending up in the Supreme Court. Why was I doing this? I know the reason; I believed in it! I believe in a system where election is free and fair,”he said.

NEWS - National Assembly Members To Get #9billion As Wardrobe Allowance Next Week

The newly sworn in members of the National Assembly will smile home with a whooping N8.64 billion as wardrobe allowance next week, it was learnt last night via This Day Newspaper

The sum is aside other allowances such as furniture, housing and vehicle, which the lawmakers are entitled to.

It was also learnt that the management of the National Assembly is currently allocating offices to the 469 federal lawmakers in both chambers ahead of their resumption on June 23 from the two-week recess that they embarked on
June 10.

The N8.64 billion wardrobe allowance translates to N17.5 million for each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives and N21.5 million for each of the 109 senators.

While the wardrobe allowance, just like the furniture and vehicle allowances, will cover the entire four-year tenure
of the 469 federal lawmakers, their housing allowances are paid on a yearly basis.

Based on the approval of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the housing allowance for political office holders is usually 200 per cent of their annual salaries, the furniture allowance is 300 per cent of annual salaries, while a motor vehicle loan is pegged at 400 per cent of their annual salaries.

Accordingly, each of the 107 senators besides the Senate President and his deputy, will be paid N4,052,800 as housing allowance.

This sum will be paid to them every year, translating to N433,649,600 as housing allowance to be paid to the Senate annually, while the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President will be provided accommodation by the federal government.

On the other hand, each member of the House of Representatives will be paid N3,970,425 as housing allowance upon assumption of office.

This implies that the 358 representatives aside the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, will collect a total of N1,421,412,150 as housing allowance.

Like that of the Senate, the speaker and deputy speaker will be given accommodation by the federal government.

Following the monetisation of entitlements of public officials undertaken by the Olusegun Obasanjo
administration, the lawmakers lost the right to occupy houses built and maintained by the government.

Hence, the federal government sold the houses previously occupied by the lawmakers to them.

Since the principal officers of the Sixth National Assembly benefited from the sale of the houses, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is currently building new ones for the four presiding officers of both chambers.

On the furniture allowance, each of the senators will take away N6,079,200 from the budget of the National Assembly, while the furniture for both the Senate
president and his deputy will be provided by the government.

The total sum to be paid to the 107 senators as furniture allowance will be N650,474,400.

In the House of Representatives, each member will be paid N5,955,637.50 as furniture allowance.

This means that the 358 members will collect a total of N2,132,118,225 for furniture.

On the vehicle loan, each of the senators is entitled to N8,105,600, while each House member is entitled to N7,940,850.50, meaning that the 107 senators will collectively take N867,299,200 as vehicle loans while the
358 House members will get N2,842,824,479 for their vehicles.
