NEWS - Saudi prince slams Donald Trump on Twitter after claims that he co-owned Fox News

A Saudi prince has slammed Donald Trump after being dragged into the Republican presidential front-runner’s battle with Fox News, saying he “bailed out” the businessman twice in the past.
The war of words erupted on Twitter on Thursday after Trump posted a photoshopped image that showed Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal bin Abdulaziz with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly describing Al-Waleed as a “co-owner of Fox News”.
Al-Waleed hit back soon after on Twitter, saying in a tweet that he had bailed out the billionaire invested twice.

The prince, who is chairman of the board of Kingdom Holding Company, an investment holding company, included a link to a news report about him buying Trump’s yacht Trump Princess in 1991 after the billionaire was in debt for $900 million.

The news report also said Al-Waleed took a controlling stake in Trump’s Plaza Hotel in New York in 1995, when Trump was unable to make loan payments.
This is not the first time Trump and Al-Waleed have faced off on Twitter. After Trump called for a ban on the entry of all Muslims into the US last month, Al-Waleed said the Republican front-runner was a “disgrace” to his party and should withdraw from the presidential race.

NEWS - Woman finds missing wedding ring inside son's belly after x ray

A Reddit user - said his wife was searching for her ring and searched everywhere, but couldn't find it. She then decided to take their toddler to her GP ‘just in case’. He didn't say how old the baby was.
The GP X-rayed the child - and the lost wedding ring was clearly visible.

Reddit user I Am Clark Griswold (the father) said, ‘The reason the pediatrician suggested the x-ray was to ensure it wasn’t getting stuck anywhere it shouldn’t. Retrieving the ring wasn’t the concern.
‘He’s actually shown no signs of discomfort at all. ‘I’m certain his older brothers will be telling him about this for the rest of his life.’ ‘Now we dissect each diaper like 5th grade science class.’
In a follow-up post, the father revealed that the ring had reappeared after his son pooped without any prompting needed.
‘We can’t believe how quickly it passed, and it didn’t seem to cause him any pain on the way out. What a trooper. What a pooper.
‘There was barely any indication other than the familiar smell.

NEWS - Reverend dies two hours before he was supposed to officiate at a funeral service

Venerable Stephen Eseteru Ogue, JP, 53, of St. John’s Anglican Church, Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government  Area of Delta State and author of several Christian books died at about 7.45 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015, two hours  before he was supposed to officiate at a funeral service.
He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away at Lily Hospital, Deco Road, Warri. His first  daughter, Oghenenyoreme Ogue, said he had been suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.

The hearse conveying the remains of the  woman whose burial the paster was supposed to preside at, mourners, including a large delegation of the church’s Women Guild as well as members of the Anglican Fasting and Prayer Society, had gathered in front of the church building as early as 9.25 a.m. for the service billed for 10.00 a.m.

Unaware of the tragedy that had occurred, the mourners waited patiently for the officiating ministers to receive the body but no pastor was in sight. Meanwhile, other  members of the church and visitors kept  trooping into the church premises for the funeral service.

Worried by the development, members of the mourning family  began to  call the vicar’s phone but someone kept answering his  asking them to exercise patient. The calls to Reverend Friday Erutere, billed to assist the venerable at the funeral service, were initially ignored until he answered  to similarly sue for patience, saying he was on his way to the church.

After about 45 minutes after the burial ceremony was supposed to start, a Toyota car, said to be owned by the vicar/archdeacon, hurried into the church premises and made its way straight to the staff quarters ,to the  relief of those waiting  outside the church. Immediately, people started regrouping around the hearse with the hope that the service would soon begin. But that didn't happen.

Eventually, 60 minutes after the scheduled time of service, Erutere, accompanied by two others, arrived at the West Door to officially receive the corpse and proceeded  with the funeral service.

After the service started, people wondered where the original pastor was, because on several occasions he had enjoined members of the Women’s Guild to be punctual for that particular service and had promised to lead the church delegation to Okpara Inland for the interment.

As the mourners departed the church for Okpara Inland, venue of the interment, there was no word about the sudden death of the vicar of the Agbarho church where another Anglican canon, Rev. Benedict  Akpoguma, took over proceedings. Put simply, neither the mourners nor well wishers, who had travelled from long distances, including Mr. John Salubi of the NNPC, Dr. Francis Eghwubare of Delta State University, Mr. Joshua Onoronimighwu of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Victor Onogagamue of Delta State Sports Commission, Barrister Joseph Ogedegbe, and a  former NBA  Chairman of Ughelli Local Government, were briefed on the reason for the funeral’s delay.

Only the first daughter, Oghenenyoreme, could volunteer comments, although, she was unable to explain the mystery behind the death of her father,  as, according to her, they were trained to submit to the will of God in all circumstances.

However, the daughter said they had prayed together that morning in accordance with family tradition, without any visible signs of danger, and the ebullient father retired to the couch in the sitting room apparently to relax.
“After a while, I noticed that daddy was no longer breathing normally and I raised the alarm to draw my mum’s attention. She quickly called the driver and we carried him to the car and drove straight to the hospital in Warri. That is all I can tell you, because nobody told us anything about his state of health until the bishop came later that day to break the sad news to us,” she tearfully narrated.

SPORTS - Clueless Oliseh and team crash out of CHAN

The home based Super Eagles of Nigeria this afternoon crashed out of the African Cup of Nations tournament for home based players after playing out a 0-1 loss to the Syli Nationale of Guinea.

This was Sunday Oliseh's first major test as the Super Eagles coach. While Nigeria needed just a point to qualify through to the knockout stages of the tournament, Guinea needed the full three points and got a win over the Super Eagles.

Sunday Oliseh started Sunshine Stars attacker Tunde Adeniji in place of top scorer Chikatara but the team's lacklustre display in front of goal meant the technical crew had to rue that decision.

To show how badly the Super Eagles fared against the Syli Nationale, it took over twenty minutes before the team could muster a shot. Guinea took the lead after Daouda Camara eased past Nigeria's defence to lay an assist for Ibrahim Sankhon who slotted into the net.
Coach Sunday Oliseh was forced to make an early substitution in the second half with the introduction of the team's top goalscorer Chisom Chikatara who was unfit to start the match. Chikatara replaced Paul Onobi.

Despite all the Super Eagles did in the second half they couldn't break through the Guinean defence and Oliseh's men had to settle for third place after getting 4points from three games.
Coach @SundayOOliseh apologized to Nigerians after the match on twitter 'We apologize to Nigerians for this loss, we never planned to exit the tournament this early. The boys gave their best.'

NEWS - L.A. to pay $24 million to 2 men who spent decades in jail for murders they did not commit

Los Angeles will pay more than $24 million to two men who spent decades in prison after they were wrongfully convicted of murder, officials said.
Kash Delano Register won his freedom in 2013 after lawyers and students from Loyola Law School doubted a key prosecution witness’s testimony.
He was awarded $16.7 million by the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday. It is the largest settlement in an individual civil rights case in the city’s history, according to reports.
Bruce Lisker, who was released from prison in 2009 after a Los Angeles Times investigation into his conviction, will walk away with $7.6 million.

Though their cases were unrelated, both men maintained that detectives ignored evidence that proved their innocence.

City Councilman Paul Krekorian told reporters on Tuesday the two cases were the “very unfortunate” result of police misconduct in the past, but did not reflect how the department operates today.
“It’s just regrettable that these two individuals spent the better part of their lives in prison as a result of the inadequacy of the investigations that happened back then,” said Krekorian, who heads the budget committee that weighs settlement payments.
Register, now 55, was arrested and charged in the 1979 armed robbery and murder of Jack Sasson, 78, after eyewitness testimony put him at the scene at the time of the shooting, the Times wrote.

Witness Brenda Anderson reportedly told police she heard gunshots and that she saw Register running from the scene.

Anderson picked him out of a photo lineup, officials said, but her sisters told police that her accounts were untrue.

Despite there being no recovered murder weapon, no fingerprints lifted and Register’s girlfriend’s insistence that he was with her at the time of the shooting, he spent 34 years behind bars for the crime.

Anderson’s sister, Sheila Vanderkam, reportedly testified that she tried to tell a detective that her sister had lied about seeing Register, but the investigator put a finger to his lips, meaning she should stay quiet.

Her other sister, Sharon Anderson, said that she, too, was ignored by police.

Register’s attorneys claimed that Anderson picked out Register under the threat of being prosecuted for credit card forgery and a recent theft if she didn’t choose someone.

Register was finally freed after a fresh examination of his case, spurred on after Vanderkam read many years later that he was still imprisoned. He was ultimately freed in 2013.
“After almost 37 years, I am more than ready to try to put this all behind me and move on with my life,” he told reporters.
Lisker, now 50, also said he was ready to move forward after spending 26 years in prison for the murder of his 66-year-old mother, Dorka.

Though happy to be vindicated, he told the Times:
“How can one place a monetary figure on a lifetime of stolen freedom, of crushed aspirations and a shattered reputation, on my mother’s tragic murder going unsolved and neglected for 33 years and counting? There are no words…”
At the time of the murder, Lisker, who had a reputation for fighting with his mother and a history of drug abuse, told police he saw her lying in the foyer and broke into the home to help her. They did not believe him.
Times investigation in 2005 raised questions about the case against Lisker, pointing to details that showed the murder investigation was "sloppy and incomplete."

During a hearing in federal court challenging Lisker’s conviction, key elements of the prosecution’s case were undermined or disproved, including that a bloody print found in the bathroom was not in fact made by Lisker’s shoes as it was once thought to be.

His attorneys also said that the lead detective ignored evidence that Lisker’s friend may have been a possible suspect.

Since his release, Lisker has married.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), today Wednesday Jan. 20th said they have shut down two refineries, one in Port Harcourt and the other in Kaduna following blowing up of pipelines in the Niger Delta.

BREAKING NEWS - BUHARI Sends Pro-Biafran leader Nnamdi Kanu to Kuje prison

Justice John Itsoho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenious People of Biafra, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Security Service since October 14th last year, be sent to Kuje prison in Abuja immediately.

The order was given at a resumed hearing of the treasonable charges the Federal government filed against him today January 20th. His lawyer actually asked that Nnamdi should be sent to prison as it was difficult for his legal team and friends to talk to him while he was in DSS custody. Diri, however, prayed the court to keep Kanu in the custody of the DSS for security reasons. But the judge ruled that the defendant be kept in the custody of the Nigeria Prison Service, Kuje.

IDEAS - First ever 'Made in Ghana' cars are built to survive anything

The first cars to carry a "made in Ghana" seal will be under a harsh spotlight as they prepare to enter the marketplace and take on the major international brands.
The man that made it happen is under no illusions about the difficulty of the task.
"The biggest challenge is people believing (and) having faith in the car," says Kwadwo Safo Jr, CEO of Kantanka Group -- the nation's first manufacturers. "People think the doors will come off or the tires will blow off or something."

To prove the Kantanka models are tough enough for local conditions, Safo gave them a baptism of fire serving the Ghanaian police.
"They rough handle cars a lot," he says. "They took the car, and made it appeal to the masses."
"These cars are made for Ghana. We know how the roads are, and we built them to stand the roads."
Despite positive reviews, Kantanka Group faces another challenge as a small operator seeking to compete with established rivals. The manufacturing base in Accra can produce just 100 cars month, and with high costs, the cheapest of three models costs around $20,000.
But given the rapid progress until now, such difficulties do not deter Safo from dreaming, and his dreams are not limited to the domestic market.
"We've gotten this far because we believe in the possibilities," he says. "One day we will be all over the world."

NEWS - Schoolboy questioned by police after writing that he lived in 'terrorist house' instead of 'terrace house'

A young Muslim boy's spelling error has been probed by police after he wrote that he lived in a 'terrorist house'. The primary school pupil, aged 10, intended to write that he lived in a 'terraced house'. However his error, which was made during English class, had to be probed by police officers.

The unnamed pupil, who attends a primary school in Accrington, Lancashire, was later interviewed by police.
His family's laptop was also searched by specialist officers.

Since July, teachers in the UK are legally obliged to report any suspected extremist behaviour to the authorities, however the boy's family say they are shocked.

His cousin, who has not been named, said the fact that the spelling error was probed by police officers is a "joke".
    She said:
"You can imagine it happening to a 30-year-old man, but not to a young child. "If the teacher had any concerns it should have been about his spelling. "They shouldn't be putting a child through this. "He's now scared of writing, using his imagination."
The teacher was legally obliged to report the incident, which took place on December 7 last year, under the 2015 Counter Terrorism and Security Act.

Miqdaad Versi, assistant secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said:
"There are huge concerns that individuals going about their daily life are being seen through the lens of security and are being seen as potential terrorists rather than students.
"This is a natural consequence of the extension of the 'Prevent Duty' to schools."

In a statement, Lancashire Police said: "This was reported to the police but was dealt with by a joint visit by a PC from the division and social services, not by anyone from Prevent.
"There were not thought to be any areas for concern and no further action was required by any agency."
