NEWS - 90-year-old paralyzed man dumped alive in graveyard by family in Kenya

Residents of Mutomo Village in Gatundu, Kiambu County, Kenya were shocked to find a 90-year-old man dumped alive near a graveyard on Monday, September 12th.

Samuel Kibure was dumped near Mutomo graveyard along Gatundu-Mutomo Kenyatta road route where he was discovered by members of the public. According to Kibure, he had been admitted at a Gatundu hospital and later discharged.

He told Citizen Digital that he was taken to his brother’s house at Karembu in Gatundu South on Mondaynight by his son who lives in Nakuru. In the middle of the night, his brother’s sons woke him up, wrapped him in a blanket and took him in their car where they dumped him near the graveyard at about 2pm.

Kibure narrated how he had sold his land and property, leaving him homeless, adding that his children later deserted him claiming he had become a burden to them as his legs had been paralyzed.

One area resident told Citizen Digital that Kibure had been a prominent businessman and worked for the ministry of Agriculture. The old man later began drinking heavily and sold all his property. Area chief Mutheki Muiri was called to handle the case.

Controversial Enugu Catholic priest, and Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu State, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has accused some of the aides of President Buhari of working against him so that the change he promised during the elections would not be accomplished. 

The clergy man made the allegations when he spoke with some newsmen during the graduation of Niger Delta youths who trained at Innoson Plastic Factory under Federal Government’s Amnesty Programme. According to him, he is yet to see any change in government as promised by the current administration.

I am talking about change that is beyond embezzlement of funds meant for the development of the people and country. Only few people who call themselves politicians will be stealing the money and whatever they are doing with it nobody knows. The poor masses are dying and they are enriching themselves wickedly calling themselves politicians, so, such team of people should be changed and if some of them are still remaining and they want to come back, I still pray that the broom of God will sweep them out because Nigeria must move forward. These people are wicked, they are not Nigerians per say, I don’t know where their blood came from because they are not representing us; they are representing themselves and the devil that is using them. If you know the pattern of their regime, the way they move and the way they truncate the activities that will be for the wellness of the poor masses, you’ll know that some of them are possessed and they need deliverance before they enter that seat.”he said

He alleged that some of the people working in the Buhari led administration were part of past governments who milked Nigeria dry

“The government we are experiencing is not yet a Buharinised government.
Many people who are in different strategic positions are still the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) people and Buhari may not even know and even some people who are working around him are working to pull him down. Buhari means well, Buhari is a good man, Buhari is God-sent for this country but, I am telling you that there are crocodiles in the fish pond. Buhari may not know that he is feeding not the fish in the fishpond but crocodiles that are even feeding on the fishes!”he said

Mbaka however stated that it was too early for the Buhari administration to be assessed. 

“Many are complaining that Buhari has not started changing everything, Buhari is not a magician. Like I used to tell people, somebody had been cooking in the kitchen for six years and he did not feed us well and just few months ago, somebody entered the same kitchen and all of us want him to cook a very wonderful delicious soup whereby his water is still in the pot. He has not started putting ingredients and people are testing the water and saying he cannot cook well. Let us give him a chance to pour the whole ingredients into the pot and when he is done with cooking, we can now judge him. It is too early to judge a man who has just entered few months ago, remember, even the budget is being attacked, padding or no padding and some people want to baptise criminal fraudulent machination with the name padding as a non criminal offence. So, when you steal money that is in billions, it is padding and that one is a no offence? But catch a poor man that steals a phone of N20, 000, he will be burnt alive.”

He urged Nigerians to be prayerful to counter the activities of those he said were plotting to break the country and take over power.

“Nigerians should go on their knees and pray for divine intervention because apart from God, we are going to see horrible things. The way these people are ganging up, they want to break Nigeria and take over power and take us back to where we were coming from. I pray it shall be well with Nigeria and it shall be well with Nigerians.”he said

A village known as Toraja in South Sulawesi, Indonesia practices what many will term ‘the most bizarre’ ritual ever as villagers every three years dig up the corpses of loved ones and give them make overs in an event called the ‘Ceremony of Cleaning Corpses’. As part of the zombie ceremony, even the skeletons of children are exhumed, damaged coffins are fixed or replaced before the mummies are walked around the area by following a path of straight lines during the ritual.

Herman Tandi, 32 dug up the skeletons of his grand parents Jesaya Tandibua and Yakolina Namanda, brushed their hair and wore them wedding suits. 
In another part of the village, another family dug up the skeleton of their relative, an army veteran that’s been buried for ten years, and then dressed him in army uniform for the ceremony also known as Ma’nene ritual before taking ‘family’ pictures with him. 

Another man’s skeleton, Paul Sampe Lumba, who has been dead for seven years, was given glasses, a tie and a striped blazer so he could look good in the family photo while Ne’Tampo, dead for 30 years receives his own make over .   

The villagers have an ancient belief that a person’s spirit must return to their place of origin so the more they go to the morgue, the better.

NEWS - INEC finally bows to APC's pressure, postpones edo election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday postponed the Edo State governorship election scheduled for tomorrow. It based its action on security advice. The polls will now hold on September 28, 2016.

Earlier, in the week, the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) had in a joint statement urged INEC to reschedule the polls, saying there were plans by unscrupulous persons to foment trouble.

INEC, which had repeatedly restated its readiness to hold the election, had said it would hold consultations with the security agencies before arriving at a decision.

INEC, in a statement by its National Commissioner (Voters Education and Publicity), Soyebi Solomon, said: “At about 6:00p.m. today (yesterday), the Commission received official communication from the Police and the DSS drawing its attention to the need to postpone the Edo governorship elections. Such postponement is necessary in view of threats of terrorist activities in Edo State and other states of the federation during the election and over the Sallah period.
“‎The deployment of security personnel, country wide, to secure lives and property, would overstretch their capacity to, at the same time, provide adequate security for the election.

“‎Consequently, the Commission notes the request of the security agencies. And considering the security implications of proceeding with the election, the safety of eligible voters, electoral officials, including ad-hoc staff, and other stakeholders, INEC has decided to reschedule the Edo governorship elections to Wednesday, September 28, 2016.”

The PDP, meanwhile, has described the postponement as illegal, saying: “Democracy is under a serious threat from the APC and its Gestapo security agencies.”

The leadership of the party, led by Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, in a statement, yesterday, reiterated its earlier position that the date should not have been changed.

The statement, by the spokesman of the PDP national caretaker committee, Dayo Adeyeye, reads in parts: “The postponement of the election by the top hierarchy of the security agencies predicated on alleged security threat was a less than ingenious attempt to buy time for the APC, which was clearly heading for a major electoral catastrophe on Saturday.”

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, also described the postponement as the beginning of the end for democracy in Nigeria.

“It is obvious that the APC feared that it couldn’t win the election and was ready to employ whatever crude means to subvert the wish of the people,” he said.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said: “It was just a game by the APC-led Federal Government to frustrate the people of Edo State from kick-starting the journey of changing the APC’s ‘one-chance change’ in Nigeria. But they should realise that the power of the people will always be greater than the power of those in power.

“How can you postpone an election, less than 48 hours to the scheduled date? What manner of security concern could prevent an election in just one state, when elections were held in northeast states that are confronted by Boko Haram insurgents?

“Obviously, this is a sign of what is to come in 2019, and Nigerians should not be amazed if in 2019, they tell us that elections cannot be conducted.”

The PDP opposed the postponement, saying the ruling All Progressives Congress was scared.

State chairman of the party, Dan Orbih, said. “Few days ago, Adams Oshiomhole’s APC sponsored some group of boys to demonstrate to the government house and the secretariats of the APC and the PDP, asking for postponement of the election because they were preparing for the Mathematics paper in the GCE examinations.

“They have seen that it will not work, hence they resorted to this other alternative plan that there were security concerns and that the election should be postponed. Having failed in their bid to convince the electorate, they are out to use available means to buy time.”

Oshiomhole on his part had said his party was “over prepared” for the election and appealed to INEC not to postpone the “final burial of the PDP.”

He said: “The APC is ready for the election, and that was why we held our mega rally on Tuesday. And after that rally, our people across the state became more committed, more dogged and ready for the election.

“However, security issues are security issues. And as regards elections, they are very critical. If on their own they are calling on INEC for postponement, I am sure they must have their reasons because they are experts. If you recall, we raised the alarm that the PDP had planned to import thugs from neighbouring states to help them unleash mayhem on our people because they are not prepared for the election.”

The All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, Mr. Osaro Onaiwu, had said he was of the view that the polls should be shifted, to allow the students write their exams.

He said: “I am supporting the call for the postponement because at the stakeholders meeting today (Wednesday), I told them to postpone it. Education is one of the solutions to the nation’s problems. We can’t be talking of examinations and deny the students their rights. Now, even if they relocate the students to other areas or states, some of them are eligible voters.”
